If the
paintings of pointy objects piercing circular elements in Furr’s solo debut
seem a bit loaded to you, well, that’s entirely intentional. Furr’s images play
with male and female archetypes as a way of redressing the imbalance, in her
words, between the phallic and the yonic—the inference of her canvases being
that the former isn’t penetrating the latter so much as it is being immobilized
by it.
