Von Heyl’s
latest paintings expand upon the recombinant mix of imagery and abstraction
that has distinguished her among contemporary practitioners of the medium. Her
penchant for shattering compositional space with cartoonish jigsaw puzzle
shapes (filled with stripes, dots, harlequin patterns), intruding upon one
another as they float against varying types of compositional backgrounds,
remains very much in evidence.
