Ed Sheeran to guest star in season seven of Game Of Thrones

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he will appear in the new series of Game Of Thrones.
The news was broken yesterday (March 12th) by the fantasy drama's showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who revealed that they have been trying to book Sheeran to appear on the show for quite some time as they have wanted to surprise star Maisie Williams, who is a huge fan, and finally succeeded in season seven.
It's not known what role Sheeran will play or if he will have a speaking part. The likes of Coldplay, Mastodon, Of Monsters and Men, and Sigur Ros have all appeared in the series in the past.
Sheeran's confirmation comes a few days after it was revealed that the hugely successful series will return to screens on July 16th this summer.
It will be broadcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic on July 16th in simulcast with the US and then repeated on the evening of Monday July 17th. You can see the first teaser below:
Unlike previous seasons the seventh and penultimate season of the show will feature just seven episodes, though it remains to be seen if each episode is an hour in length or longer.
Among the new cast members for the upcoming season are Jim Broadbent and Tom Hopper. Hopper will play Dickon Tarly, while Broadbent's role has yet to be confirmed.
