Nietzsche’s
notions about the will to power, the death of God and the Übermensch or
Superman provide partial inspiration for Kiefer’s Uraeus, his first-ever public
art commission in the United States. Standing 20-feet tall, the work features
some of the German artist’s signature materials (lead sheeting) and motifs
(books, wings) in a paean to classical mythology.
