“Faith Ringgold: The 70’s”

Ringgold’s career, stretching back more than 50 years, has had a huge impact on younger African-American artists who rightly see her as a pioneer of identity politics and advocate for social justice. Drawing on the vernacular of Black folk art of the Deep South, Ringgold has dedicated much of her work to activism, particularly during the decade covered by this show, which includes pieces that have never been exhibited before.
